Martinez Interval (Arrhythmic) Chromogenic Print 2014 38 x 38 in. / 96 x 96 cm. Isabel M. Martinez’s work deals with the aspects of experience where the real, the known, and the imagined blend. Perception is a recurring theme. Experimentation and process in analogue photography are at the forefront of her practice. Creating ambiguous narratives and hybrid exercises, her work engages with the uncertain amid the assumed and probes the boundary between abstraction and representation, fact and fiction. Toronto-based Martínez has exhibited in Chile, Canada, the UK, the USA, France, Brazil, Colombia and Spain. Forthcoming exhibitions include Bienal Fotográfica Bogotá 2015. She holds an MFA from the University of Guelph, a BFA from PUC (Chile).
