About the Repository
WHAT IS IT?
OCAD University Open Research Repository is an open access platform to collect, preserve, distribute and promote scholarly output from the OCAD University community. All content is managed and made accessible by the University Library using an EPrints 3, open source software developed by the University of Southhampton.
BENEFITS
Visibility: by making your research available in Open Research you are increasing its discoverability thereby increasing exposure to your work, which can lead to increased citation of research overall.
Preservation: Open Research ensures the long-term storage and preservation of submissions along with stable, persistent URLs that do not change over time. Open Research also preserves works in addition to research papers such as presentations, conference papers, as well as books and ebooks.
Indexing: Quality metadata, indexing by Google, and inclusion in directories such as OpenDOAR provide multiple points of access to your research. Additionally, inclusion in Open Research gives your work context through its inclusion in a thematic repository which providing an alternative mode of distribution.
Compliance with funding requirements: The Tri-Agency (SSHRC, NSERC, and CIHR) have recently harmonized their Open Access Policies. Grant recipients are required to ensure that any peer-reviewed journal publication arising from Agency-supported research is freely available within 12 months of publication. Depositing an article, or a post-print manuscript to Open Research will fulfill this requirement. See our Tri-Agency Open Access Policy subject guide for more information.
