Abstract
The article details the life of Canadian painter, F. M. Bell Smith (1846-1923). It discusses Bell Smith's early interest in photography, training with his father, his work the "Lights of a City Street", his depiction of the Canadian wilderness and landscape, the Society of Canadian Artists in Montreal, the O.S.A, the Royal Canadian Academy, and his interest in Dickens.
