Abstract

The article details the life and accomplishments of C. M. Manly (1855-1924), a landscape painter. Manly moved to Canada from England and went back and forth between Canada and the United Kingdom. Manly was one of the founders of the Art Students' League, awarded an honourable mention at the Pan American Exhibition, was a part of the Royal Canadian Academy and the Ontario Society of Artists, and was an art teacher at the Ontario School of Art (OCAD).
