Abstract: | This research project explores how teachers can design new images of the futures that explore the possible and necessary transformations of their roles and their relationships with technology. This paper provides first an overview of the nature and factors that shape the role of teachers, as well as the elements that need to be considered when exploring the transformation of the teacher’s role. It then presents an analysis of the current understanding of the teacher’s role from the perspective of EdTech. Finally, it introduces the prototype of a toolkit based on an adaptation of the Causal Layered Analysis futures research method that guides teachers through a layered deconstruction and reconstruction of their roles to design images of the future.
