| Abstract: | This thesis project investigates the possibility of generating a sense of connection in a shopping mall’s space and enhancing the experience of this “non-‐place”, a space composed of transient activity and retaining no engagement as described by Mark Auge. An engaging interactive public installation has been designed which allows participants to have a lasting effect on the space by leaving a trace of their activities. The three core values in this project that act as a foundation throughout the development process are accumulation, identification, and meaningful outputs. The research is conducted with a horizon scan of the existing literature and knowledge, as well as existing interactive projects in various fields. Critical design, Reflection-‐in-‐Action, and user-‐centered design are the three main design approach and method. |
