Abstract

This report begins to tell the story of a transformed Dorothy H. Hoover Library. To do this, it first describes a set of transformational opportunities at the Ontario College of Art and Design and then considers a set of aspirations and choices.

In guiding the telling of this story, Jill Patrick, OCAD’s Director of Library Services, invited Scott Bennett and Steven Foote to visit OCAD on 18-20 March 2008. Over these three days, we talked with scores of OCAD students, faculty, administrators, and staff. We are grateful for the warm welcome we received at every turn and for the candid, deeply engaged, and sometimes passionate conversations of which we became a part. It is a great privilege to join in the university’s discourse on the future of its library.
