Abstract:

in the void asks what a queer creative process can be, by centering the incomplete, the messy, and the vulnerable within the making and exhibiting of artwork. This thesis critically questions the dominance of colonial and consumer-capitalist practices that shape artistic production. Through a two-part exhibition series, Queer Creative Processes and Ecologies (November 2025) and a call for the incomplete (March 2026), I curate ongoing works from OCAD artists Evan Sagman, g blekkenhorst, Juliana Gagné, Kiera Harrigan, and Riley Midroni. By exhibiting unfinished artworks in both a gallery and an archive, a queer creatively disorienting process is made visible to the public, opening space for alternative ways of knowing. Drawing on auto theoretical and intuitive curatorial methods, I engage artistic creative processes as a “void”; a generative space that is unknown, unpredictable, and full of potential for queer world building. The exhibitions foster queer kinship, holding the unfinished task of what queerness means in the here and now.
