Item Type: MRP
Creators: Singh, Stephanie
Abstract:

Black Foliage: The preservation process of botanicals in human-nature relations is the basis of my research
exploration. I investigate themes of the preservation of botanical materials through the lens of memory and culture.
My methodological approaches consist of a combination of the traditional crafts of textiles in the form of paper
making alongside an exploration of new materials practices using eco-resin. Exploring the theme of holistic
conceptual material knowledge of my blackness, black culture, and cultural material, I use these materials to create
objects that visually spark familiar connections. My series of works will investigate modes of resistance through
culture, material, and memory.
